(optional) Essential Video of the Week
I meant to only post one per week. Nor did I hope to become a link page to Bill Moyers, but man, what an interview. If you like John Stewart, check this out. If you don't like John Stewart... well, you've got issues.
Notable Nitwit of the Week
I can't believe I almost missed this gem of an idiotic statement. It's the Grand Poobah of puerile political prognostication, here in Winnipeg at least, the one and only Tom Oleson.
In an otherwise irrelevant March 31 Winnipeg Free Press article titled "In Hell, CBC is the only channel", Tom dropped the following monster:
I'm quite sure we'll be seeing more of him.

I can't remember now what particular news item brought on this inspiration. It might have been CBC Washington correspondent Neil Macdonald smugly reporting -- once again -- America's latest problems in Iraq or the travails U.S. President George W. Bush is experiencing with a Democrat-controlled Congress that appears determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in that war, or it could have been just one of those eternal panel discussions about the National Identity or the price of surfboards in St. Catharines (Ontario). What more can I say? Ladies and gentlemen, the--actually employed and paid money to write this--Tom Oleson.
I'm quite sure we'll be seeing more of him.
Essential Video of the Week
Bill Moyer's "Buying the War".
An absolute must see for anyone who watches or reads the news, or just generally likes to consider themselves well-informed. It's 90 minutes long and is about the media's (mis)conduct in the run-up to the U.S. war on Iraq.
Make some popcorn, grab a beer, and then go here.
